Experienced Leadership
Jeff Fink has served the citizens of Kalamazoo County for over 25 years. Since joining the office as an Assistant Prosecutor in 1980, Jeff has personally prosecuted hundreds of cases in District Court, Circuit Court, Family Court and Probate Court. Jeff served as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor and was elected Prosecuting Attorney in 2004. As your Prosecutor, Jeff Fink:
- Oversees more than 10,000 criminal cases each year.
- Developed and supports career criminal programs and cold case homicide teams which prosecute violent and repeat offenders (These programs are some of the first and most successful in the nation.)
- Developed domestic violence intervention and prevention programs to reduce fatalities (among the first in Michigan.)
- The Prosecutor's Office has been called "world class" for its service to victims and their families.
Setting the National Standard
Jeff Fink knows how crime can turn lives upside-down and tear families apart, especially when it comes to children. That’s why Governor Jennifer Granholm appointed Jeff to the State’s Juvenile Justice Committee as her advisor.
- Co-founded Juvenile Drug Court (first in Michigan and a mentor site for other jurisdictions)
- Developed school programs for students to reduce truancy and juvenile delinquency.
Putting the Community First
Jeff Fink was raised and educated in our community. As your Prosecuting Attorney, he has forged on-going partnerships with the Courts, law enforcement agencies, schools, and non-profit agencies to establish successful crime prevention and reduction programs.
- Developed and supports community service and diversion programs for first time, nonviolent offenders.
- Proactive in educating and protecting seniors from crime.
- Works with community leaders to offer balanced and restorative justice programs for victims and offenders.
- Supports and co-developed Drug Treatment Courts in our community (some of the first in Michigan and national models.)
