County Prosecutor to Seek Re-election
Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Fink, announced today that he will run for re-election. Jeff Fink has
served the County in the Prosecutor's Office for over 25 years. He joined the office in 1980s as an Assistant Prosecutor
and has handled hundreds of cases in District Court, Circuit Court, Family Court and Probate Court. He was appointed the
Chief Assistant Prosecutor by former Prosecutor, Jim Gregart. Jeff Fink was elected Prosecuting Attorney for Kalamazoo
County in 2004.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office is well known for its tough stance on violent crime such as armed robbery, rape,
home invasion, child abuse and murder. The Office has one of the first and most successful cold case homicide prosecution
units in the state. Jeff's leadership and experience was recognized by other Prosecuting Attorneys in Michigan as they have
elected him to the Prosecuting Attorney's Board of Directors to work on criminal justice legislation and policy for the
entire state.
Jeff Fink has also teamed up with the Courts and Community Leaders on Drug Treatment Courts, diversion programs for first
time non-violent offenders, a Sobriety Court for drunk drivers, and truancy and delinquency programs for Youth.
In 2003, Jeff Fink was appointed by Governor Granholm to Michigan's Juvenile Justice Committee to advise her and the
legislature on juvenile delinquency programming. He was re-appointed by the Governor in 2008. Jeff also serves as
an advisor to the President and Congress on juvenile delinquency matters.
Jeff Fink is a dedicated volunteer, having served on the Child Abuse and Neglect Council, the Kalamazoo Probation
Enhancement Program Board, the Community Mental Health Recipient Rights Board, the Silent Observer Board, various senior
services activities, the Dispute Resolution Board, the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team, the Community Corrections
Advisory Board and co-chaired the Meth Task Force.
Jeff is a long time member of the community, graduating from the Portage Public School System and Western Michigan
University. Jeff earned his law degree from the University of Toledo School of Law, where he received the National
Order of Barristers Award. As our Prosecutor, Jeff will continue to be an advocate for victims and will prioritize the
safety of our community.
